Did you know that 73% of people have stress that impacts their mental health? Everyone faces stress at one time or another. Too much stress can have detrimental effects on you both mentally and physically. In order for us to be the best versions of ourselves and truly #glow both inside and out, it is important to get control of our headspace during times of stress.

When you're on hustle mode, it is important to do wellness checks on yourself. Next time stress levels are running high, take a moment to stop and ask yourself how you are doing. How am I feeling right now? Do I need to ask someone for a helping hand? How can I make this task or situation easier on myself?

Being able to connect on a deeper level with yourself can help you grow mentally and physically. It is important to be able to tune into your thoughts, feelings, and emotions, especially during stressful times. If you find yourself feeling stuck and need some reassurance, I want you to keep scrolling down the page and read some of my favorite ways to manage my stress and anxiety!

My Favorite Ways To De-stress

#1. Turn on your favorite tunes

I don't know if it is just me, but turning on a good playlist always helps boost my

mood instantly! Next time you are grinding on a school research project or trying

to get a new development plan sent over to your boss, try putting on some of your favorite chill music. I promise it will change your mood!

#2. Snuggle with a spouse

Physical touch helps release oxytocin, a hormone that makes you happier. Don't have

a spouse? That's totally okay! Grab your furry pet and give them a squeeze! It'll work just the same!

#3. Maintain a positive mindset

Try replacing negative thoughts with positive ones. Take time to change the way you

look at certain events and situations. You can't appreciate the highs if you don't go

through the lows first!

#4. Get extra sleep

Prioritize getting eight hours of sleep each night! Maintaining a good sleep schedule

will help boost your mood and mental health.

#5. Exercise

Try fitting a workout, indoor or outdoor, into your daily schedule. Setting aside at least thirty minutes a day to get a good sweat in can reset your mind and make you feel happier! Check out my other posts on fitness.

#6. Lean into things you CAN control

Cut out time to learn a new skill, work towards a goal, or time to reconnect with loved ones!

#7. Reach out to others

It is important to know that you don't have to go through your situation alone! Reach out to others and seek their advice. Be sure to open yourself up to their comfort and words of wisdom, if given. Building relationships with others can help boost your mindset!

#8. Take off your fake smile

Most importantly, know that it is totally okay to NOT be okay. Life isn't going to be roses and rainbows all the time, and more than likely there's going to be more of the rainy days. Know that you aren't alone and that everyone feels that way sometimes. If needed, take the day off and binge watch your favorite Netflix show. But also make sure to not get stuck in a routine of laying around. Get up and get active too!

The next time you are feeling stuck in a cycle of what feels like never-ending stress, I hope some of these tips will come to mind. Prioritizing your mental health is one of the first steps to self-care. Now, go be your best self and show others your glow! You are beautiful. You are worthy. You are enough.

Until next time,

Lexi
